THE DIAMOND SHINES SURE WHEN POLISHED! #BLOGCHATTERBLOGHOP

The Little One of 5 yrs+ was too fussy and was pestering the family members with endless questions thru' his constant observation around. That was the age and at that point of time his learning could never be stopped. The time was 0930 PM..

"Time to sleep, dear!"

The grandma said.

"No.. I traveled and I've a time difference of four and half hrs. I'll not sleep up to 2!"

Said the Little One firmly.

"That's only on the first day of your coming. Not daily!"

"No.. It's every day till I go back!"

"Alright.. Day after tomorrow is Ganesha Festival. We have to get up early.. Tomorrow we will buy Ganesha idol!"

The next day evening, the family moved to the nearby Market to buy their Favorite idol.

There were many idols of different sizes and colors. The boy quickly picked up the plain one saying,

"Grandpa says we should be eco-friendly. No color means that!"

The idol was brought home and next day the dedicated Puja was done in the house with the boy participating in each and every activity involved therein.

The same evening was the immersion time.

A bucketful of water was brought, a simple Puja was conducted and the idol was about to be immersed in the waters when the boy squarely stopped the members from doing that saying,

"I want my Ganesha!"

The family members coaxed him a lot but the boy never allowed to do that.

Day 1 passed thus and day 2 too passed peacefully as immersions were done on the odd days and day 3 arrived. But the boy was double firm on not immersing on the 3rd day too.

It was day 5 and the boy's stand was firm. The grandpa soon stepped-in and decided to teach the child something timely. He cajoled the boy saying,

  • "Dear! Why did you buy the eco-friendly Ganesha?"
"To help our garden plants!"
  • "Shall we help them again?"
"Yes.. I want to do that!"
  • "See.. Now a days no rains are coming. There is no water for our garden plants.. Can we give them some water?"
"Yes! Let's do that immediately!"
  • "And we give them some food too?"
"Yes..Yes!"
  • "The soil is their food.. If you immerse Lord Ganesha in water, the idol will melt and becomes their food mixed with water. And there are no colors in it!"
"Yes.. We should do that immediately!"
  • "So.. Tomorrow morning we'll have water mixed with soil. We give that to plants! That helps our plants grow and we'll have everywhere green.. Don't you want that?"
"Yes.. I want all my plants grow.. We'll do that!"
  • "Now we'll put Lord Ganesha in water and you close your eyes and pray to Him that all plants with us grow big by next year!"

The Little One instantly closed his eyes in front of the immersed Ganesha and prayed aloud what his grandpa had said. The grandpa was happy that he could instill certain right thoughts in the mind of the child on the eve of the closure of Ganesha Festival!

LET ME REPLACE MY HALF-HEARTED ONE STEP WITH A FIRM FOOTING!

“Sir! The Great Saint had said,

  • ‘If you move one step towards God, the Almighty moves ten steps towards you!’
Here,
  • I follow all the rituals, practice the required austerities, do all my necessary works with full devotion and beyond offer a sincere Prayer unto Him for the Ultimate Take Care and further Guidance in this line.
  • I never miss anything of this even for a day and truly surrender unto Him in all my doings.
  • I understand that the Almighty alone Protects me at every moment.

In spite having such deep Faith too, my life appears to be going on in its own way with the usual ups and downs, the downs at times being a bit serious in nature.

Why is that the Almighty really not helping me in spite of doing all this? I request you kindly clarify my this one doubt as I am totally confused here!”

"Dear! The Almighty is constantly conducting His test to evaluate all the Faith Seekers.. Here it's not just following the stringent rituals, practicing many austerities and doing your duties that is important but doing all these with a zeal. Beyond this, the result oriented attitude should well be controlled with a firm thought within that..
  • Doing is important but the result need not be favorable to the root!
And this thinking is very much possible for any one as it still permits certain seeking of success from which none of us are ever free but to what extent can well be defined by us alone..

Since this approach is missing in your discipline, your one step towards Lord is definitely half hearted.

Again to say..

My life all along is the sum total of

  • Infinite number of processes continuously happening within me and
  • Infinite number of processes continuously happening outside me..
The very perfection in all these put together is the
  • Health,
  • Wealth,
  • Safety,
  • Happiness and
  • Peace
with me today and by providing these the Lord had already moved towards me the 9 steps without a single deviation but is temporarily withholding the 10th step of making me feel contented in my life unless I change my attitude and make my one step firm.

The strangest fact here is..

The Lord does not mind moving straight away all the 10 steps towards the non-believer too who does not follow the said rituals / austerities you are following but never stops questioning everywhere and forever remains

  • Humble,
  • Duty bound,
  • At the back of a certain sacrifice,
  • Self confident and
  • Graceful by absorbing some of the losses in front to a certain extent!

THE STRANGE FRIEND WHOM I CAN'T FORGET!

I visited in those cold winter times the distant place up the Northern Hemisphere for a stay of about 3 months with my daughter. The area was totally new to me and the language spoken was unknown with English used sparingly now and then. And I was slowly getting accustomed to the new place, new people around, their lifestyle and habits..

A week passed thus. I picked up few words of the local language but it was too difficult for me to get into any free conversation with the Locals..

That day in the morning hrs, as usual my daughter and her husband left for their works and I was preparing myself to get ready, go and bring a few groceries for the family. Just then the calling bell rang..

I opened the door, saw the familiar face of the Estate Manager of the Apartment Complex whom I met on an earlier occasion, wished him and smiled at him which he very much reciprocated..

Beyond that, I could not communicate with the Manager and the Manager too not familiar with English was unable to do that and thus for a while there was certain silence between us. To overcome that the Manager finally adapted an in-genuine way of conveying his message through 3 prominent Hand Signals and left the place in haste..

I was instantly tensed up with what the Estate Manager conveyed and the new place at the moment looked to me frightening. I quickly closed the door and rang up to my daughter saying,

“Dear! Our Manager had conveyed to me that a STRANGER wearing a long coat with hood is coming to each door and trying to call thru' by ringing the calling bell..

He told me not to open the door at any cost for this man and in case he is seen through the peep hole, asked me to call for ‘HELP!’”

My daughter got wondered. She never heard of such incidents happening in those areas at any time as the place was quite safe and peaceful with Law and Order maintained the best. For a moment, she asked me to be careful and not to open the door..

Half hr had passed and suddenly the calling bell rang. I instantly with all attention looked out through the peephole and my fear was confirmed. Exactly as described, a STRANGER in long coat with hood half covering his face was standing in front of the door..

I just remained totally silent for few minutes. The stranger pressed the calling bell a few times and seeing no response, left the place. I was in a state of great tension till a call came from my daughter on the phone. She said with a big laughter,

"Dad! He is not any STRANGER. He is the young man who lives above our floor. He rang up and told me that our Manager wanted to find out from us whether the items we kept in the common Cloak Room be retained there for some more time or we would be taking them out..

He wanted this young man to convey the message to us in English. That's the reason he was there!"

That evening on my daughter's return as I recollected and narrated to her what all the Manager had conveyed to me through Hand Signals about the

'FRIEND'
Turned to a
'STRANGER'

In no time and of course back to a
'FRIEND'
In few minutes, both of us instantly bursting into an unending laughter..

The repeated Hand Signals of the Manager were..

Moving both hands with the palms up horizontally and rapidly Right and Leftwards..,

Moving up both the hands kept behind the neck and further forward down till half of his face.. and

Moving the right hand stretched out with the fist closed towards the right ear and keeping it there!

THE MOM'S MIRACLE!

The child of 5+ was too adamant to learn the right during his evening studies. The Mom tried her best but that didn't work. The dad was away from the place to support the activities. The grandpa was silently watching the scene..

"Okay.. Go and do what you want.. No need to study!"

The Mom shouted out of disgust..

"No.. I want to study.. Teach me.. I'll listen to you!"

The Little One said.. The Mom knows the drama.. That way it never happens.. She firmed up.. She left the room and went out for her other works.. The grandpa said,

"Okay, dear! Studies are over for today.. Now you are free to do what you want!"

He quickly helped the boy close all his books and keep them neatly to a side.. Hrs passed.. The child was taken care by the other members of the family and he was kept engaged for a while..

The dinner was over and soon it was sleeping time.. The Mom silently got into her bed and was reading some material. The Little One said,

"I'll not sleep with Mommy!"

"No problem.. You can sleep with me in my room!"

The grandma said.. Soon he was by the side of grandma and she started cajoling him to sleep by telling a story. By that time his Mom got into sleep.

Time passed.. Soon it was 12 mid night.. The child didn't sleep and the grandma was tired..

"What do you want now?"

She asked..

"Get me....... Get me...... All here and I want to play!"

"This is sleeping time.. You have to sleep.. Tomorrow you have to wake up early..We are celebrating Ganesha Chaturdashi!"

"No.. I want to play.. I don't want to sleep!"

"Okay.. Do what you want!"

Soon the Little one was too active.. Every family member was tired beyond.. One of them said aloud,

"Go to sleep!"

"No.. I will not.. Do what you want!"

"Why are you like this?"

"I don't know.. I don't want to sleep!"

"Go to your Mom!"

"No.. I'll not go!"

"Okay! I'll come to her room.. We sleep together with your Mommy!" Said the grandma..

"Do what you want.. I want to play!" It was 1 AM..

"Dear! Do you know the time? Sleep now!"

"Never.. I'll play!"

The grandpa sensed the sensitivity of the situation. He walked into the daughter's room and said,

"Dear! Come and take care of the boy!"

"Dad! Let him sleep/play.. Leave him for a while!"

The daughter said..

"No dear! This moment he doesn't listen to any one on the earth whatever attractions they may show and whatever interests they try to create in him..

You alone can cool him in a moment.. And the rest of the discipline follows everywhere.. Just come, call him and take him to bed!"

The daughter got up, came to the little one and said,

"Come.. Let's go to sleep!"

"I am playing!"

The boy replied..

"Okay.. 5 mts.. I stand here for you.. Come now!"

5 mts passed.. The Mom said again,

"Come.. Let's go now!"

The Mom moved on and the Little One followed..

It was 2 AM..

True silence and peace prevailed for the rest of the night.. And the family got up in high spirits the next day morning to celebrate Lord Ganesha Festival!

NO DOUBT, THE EQUALLY VALUABLE.. PARALLEL LEARNING!

It was the first day of his job for the young man from his college. His student behavior was still afresh on his face. He reported at the appointed hr in the Company Office typically known for its bureaucracy.

“Welcome! Mr ! Prakash! This is the first day of your job in our Company as well as in your life. As per your name, you are the ‘Glow’ and I feel you will definitely bring a bigger glow to our Company. Actually, I wanted to brief you on our Company's business, goals and the discipline.

  • Unfortunately I don't have much time and I have to go now for my 10 o'clock meeting with our GM.

  • Our Manager will brief you on everything!”

Saying thus, the Chief guided him to the Manager's Cabin..

“Hello! I am Dinesh! I am the Manger here. Nice to see you. Let me start........."

Just then the telephone rang. The Manager answered the same and immediately turned to the young man and said,

  • “Sorry my friend! It is an urgent requirement from our Customer and he is waiting in the Lobby. I have to go now.

  • I'll introduce you to your Senior Colleague who will brief you on everything. Come with me!”
The Senior Colleague soon became familiar with the young man and showed him his seat..

“From today you can sit here. I’ll brief you now on..... Just a moment..”

Saying thus, he went out.. The young man waited there for 15 minutes.. Suddenly, there was a call on the Inter-com and as the young man took it, the Colleague at the other end said,

  • “Sorry! Dear! There is an urgent requirement to answer on the Product we delivered. I have to be away now.
  • Can you meet Mr Devaraj, our Clerical Staff? I’ll tell him to hand over to you some documents and other papers of work related matters. You can go thru' the material and pickup something prima facie!"
Soon the young man met Mr Devaraj, who promised to give him the Material in half hr time. After 15 minutes, he came to the young man and said,
  • “Sorry! Just now, our Manager asked me to bring him the same Material for his reference. I have to go now. He is waiting..
  • Tomorrow Positively, I’ll give it you.. Okay?”
The day being over, the young man was out of his Office and soon reached Home.. The dad was waiting for his son..

“What did you learn at your work?”

He asked the tired son with all curiosity..

“Dad! I was introduced to all the people from the Chief to Clerical Staff and all appeared to be a nice persons. That way, my day went on well. I was supposed to learn something for the day and instead, I learned some other thing!"

"I don't understand!"

"In this Company, the Bosses/Senior Colleagues who are supposed to brief the beginners never find time to do that for a life time!”

SURE IT IS 'ANANDO BRAHMA' BUT NOT AT MY LEVEL!

A young man at a certain point of time in his life got very much influenced by Spiritual Practices and Spiritual Living. He soon started spending some of his time daily in

  • Practicing certain austerities,
  • Reading sacred books,
  • Visiting places of worship and
  • Following stringent measures of self denial through a strict personal discipline
and beyond some how used to discharge his family/social responsibilities in the available time.

Many well-wishers advised him on the importance of discharging the family and social responsibilities with full dedication and not to dilute that by seeking Spirituality. But the young man straight away ignored their advice saying that the worldly involvement would hold him, he would never be able to progress spiritually unless he did something in the right time and he equally never neglected his responsibilities in the process.

The relatives and family members could not say more there and were thus helpless for a while.. At length they requested the Head of an Ashram to do something and set right the thinking of the young man.

One fine day, the Head called the young man to His Ashram and enquired on what all he was doing. The youth proudly narrated all his doings and progress in that direction to the Head. The Head smiled and narrated a small story in that context..

"A Saint was going with His disciples in the forest explaining the basic aspects spiritual life. By evening, they came across a Tribal Chief who invited them to his Hamlet, offered mouth watering delicious food and unlimited wine simultaneously providing lots of entertainment / enjoyment in the process and resting for the night.

The Master just saying, "Anando Brahma!" ate a small portion the food, drank a small quantity of the wine, witnessed the entertainment for a short period and soon retired to bed.

The disciples too involved in the process but the consumption / gratifications were to their full self satisfaction and ease.

In the process, a few of them crossed the limits, involved in a wrong way beyond and in no time were forced to fall off from the path of Philosophy.

In the early morning hrs, the Saint blessed the Chief, took leave and continued His journey along with the remaining disciples.

  • 'Spirituality is just controlling oneself.. Poor thing, some of our friends have fallen off here losing that control!'
the remaining disciples remarked beaming within.

That evening by bad luck, they were corned by another Tribal Chief who happened to be a cruel man. He ordered his men to take them to a remote area, beat them black and blue by tying up and leave them hungry throughout the night by just offering a single bitter drink as the night food. The men soon did all that and left the Saint and the disciples to their fate.

In the process, a few of the disciples somehow freed themselves from the tribal men, escaped in the darkness and soon were back in their homes.

Rest of them with great pain bore all that attack, never could take a sip of the bitter drink offered, starved all the night all along living with a great fear.

The Saint alone bore the brutal attack patiently, remained unfed all the night, drank the bitter liquid saying "Anando Brahma!" and blessing the Chief in the process and remained thus till morning another Chief passing that way freed them and took care of them..

The Saint said to the remaining..

  • 'Spiritual Life is not just controlling and following the austerities but living totally a fearless life all along!'"
The Head concluded,
  • “The ordinary individuals are never free from the force of their own Nature in the world unless the Grace of Almighty descends on them.. Thus for normal personalities, the safe path of sailing in life is to take up the ordained responsibilities with all dedication and attention and start doing good to the people with them and to the society in general..
  • In the process on a small scale, they can involve themselves in the Spiritual Path according to their own freedom and the urge within and thus feel full in life..
Leaving such a discipline, straight away taking up extreme activities in the path of Spirituality is always a threat to the ordinary men and women as all these doings end up sooner or later in their life, the moment limitless enjoyments and tough situations surface without a say!”

AND THAT NEVER HAPPENS, UNLESS THE HEART TRULY POURS OUT!

In 70's, when I was doing my PG far away from native place, my mom asked me to get the marble Idols of Shrimathi Radha and Sri Krishna as that place was famous for selling of those idols. Accordingly I moved on one evening, saw a villager on the road selling those idols and enquired the price which I heard him saying sade sath..

I immediately asked him to pack the 2 idols carefully and the man sincerely and patiently done all that manual packing and handed over to me with a smile. I gave him a 10 Note and looking at that he was seen totally lost and I was told that I got pay Rs 750/-

The next moment I understood what he said earlier and what I was supposed to understand as that was how people of that area conveyed, instantly was afraid of scoldings from the man as I could do nothing in the situation since my monthly scholarship itself was Rs 250/-. But the kind seller to my great surprise in no time took back the idols politely saying to me,

"Koi bath nai.. aap jaayiye!"

Subsequently, as I moved to the new city on my job and the next day hired an auto rickshaw which on the way stopped at a signal for green, the driver in conversation with me knowing from where I came to his city asked..

"Aap ke city me single hai?"

thus bringing out the true innocence of the young man at work when actually what he meant was 'signal'..

At one point of time during my stay there, when I paid the man transporting certain goods to a place the charges agreed to initially, he returned part of it saying,

"Maine galat se suna dusari jagah ka nam.. idhar thak hum itenehi paise lete!"

thus stressing the importance of charging the right to the customer for his effort never looking out for extras there in..

After completion of my Assignment at the new city when I was transferred back to my city in the mid of the month and accordingly preparing to leave the place along with my family, the middle aged driver who used to transport my children to school daily returned part of the money I paid in the month beginning and as I causally said that he could retain that for the good service he rendered all along, the man smiled and said,

"Bachhe bhagavan ka roop hote hai.. Aise mein hum paise kabhi bhi jyada nai le sakte!"

thus truly bringing out the need of respecting the fundamental truth of life to the core totally satisfied with that bestowed upon him by the Almighty..

After settling down at my place, on a day when I was walking on the road, the young laborer digging on road to lay the main water pipeline smiled at me and said,

"Saab! Chai ke liye paise dedo!"

thus very much asserting his right to get tips from the users for the sacred service rendered by him provisioning the most essential commodity of life..

Subsequently when I sat in the auto rickshaw and the vehicle moved on, the driver silently doing his job confided to me that he stayed far off and daily would leave his place in the early morning hrs, go to the corners of city picking up all types of passengers saying 'No' to none, start returning around 7 PM and reach home by 10 PM thru' final words..

"Meri gadi chalti rahe to hi mein kush rahunga!"

thus very much confirming the need of dedicated working and resting not in the active period of a man's life..

Finally after my retirement from Service on a day at a cosmopolitan Mall in search of Restroom when I happened to notice a Luxury Restroom on chargeable basis and asked the young girl at the counter for directions to normal Restroom, she just confirmed the facility on Top floor but seeing me smiled and said,

"Achha.. Aaap ab yeh facility use kar sakte!"

thus showing off her grace of helping a Senior Citizen with due care!

These are the exact words I heard from my fellow brothern of my country on these occasions in my life and today wherever I may be on the Globe, whichever work I may be doing and whatever importance I may be given in my life, I constantly yearn to listen to such conversations more and more and feel truly blessed within that

I am born in a country where the values of life are forever upheld in a different direction when a person constantly may not gain and sometimes may lose too but never stops rising as human being in life.. Truly Saare Jahaan Se Accha!

Do you feel our India is "Saare Jahaan Se Accha" ? If no, how can we create a better India? If yes, what makes India great & special? Write about all that you really love.#SaareJahanSeAccha

SURE NEVER TOO LATE UNLESS..

### The disciple asked the Master,

  • "Have you seen God?"
The Master smiled and said,
  • "Yes, I have! And if you want, I can show you too!"
There were no more questions from the disciple as it was 100% clear to Him what the Master had meant, further to that He eternally meditated and became an Ardent Devotee of the Master and the Greatest Saint of the times!

### The Master took another disciple who was pestering him to show God, put his head into the waters of Ganges River for few secs, took him out and asked,

  • "How did you feel when you were under the water?"
  • "For those few secs, I never thought of anything except having a few breaths of air!"
said the disciple.. The master said with a smile,
  • "Unless you have such a deep urge in you to see God, you will never be able to see Him!"
### Master Dronoacharya showing a bird in distance, asked the Pandava Princes,
  • "What are you seeing in front of you at the distance?"
Each Prince described grossly what he was seeing in front but Prince Arjuna just said,
  • "I'm seeing just the eye of the bird and nothing else!"
And later in life, Prince Arjuna alone became the most famous Archer of those times!

### The wife of the famous Scientist advised her husband on a day,
  • "Stop doing all that monotonous job of going to the Lab daily and at least for a day do what you like!"
He instantly promised her,
  • "Sure! I'll do that!"
And the next day in the early morning hrs straight away went to his Lab.. He was finally a great success in his Mission thru' famous the invention!

It's a fact in our life that each person comes into this world with an aim of doing something original to him/her in Nature.. That alone remains his/her aim in life as his/her mind is already set in that direction.. As the individual grows up, this original trait basically guides him/her most of the times and tries to make the person the best in that field..

No doubt, many hurdles and obstacles will be coming in the way of such a determined Personality but having dreamed of the goal at heart strongly such a man gets an unknown energy within to overcome all those but never leaves the attempt..

Here, the person is part of Nature around or so to say the Nature and he/she are originally One.. So the very Nature around has its own sacred need too in that through which it maintains its eternal balance of vigor and vibrancy around..

Thus, Mother Nature too comes to the rescue of such a personality indirectly and helps him/her out in the job as at that point of time it never remains as the single man's work but indirectly becomes the Work of God wherein the entire humanity and living beings around would be getting benefited by those very actions..

This thinking in whatever rational way we may see appears to be appropriate as our ancient stories too confirm that like..

Whenever a Great Saint used to be Meditation for the good of the world with all humility, even the so called harmful creatures around becoming instantaneously humble in the Great man's Presence never disturbing or harming the Great Man..

As the energies of even such damaging forces too being part of the Nature are constantly streamlined by the Great Man's Love for the ultimate good of every one..

This further gets confirmed when we see our pets in our homes most of the times copying our own psyches!

Thus seen, it is ever right to say,
  • 'If I can dream it, I can sure do it!'
Of course, that dream
  • Shouldn't be a worthless day dream,
  • Shouldn't be a dream of weak hope backed by certainty despair,
  • Shouldn't be a dream of greed and
  • Shouldn't be a dream wherein I look out every moment for my comfort, luxury and enjoyment..
Devoid of these negative traits which too can powerfully capture the man and incapacitate or divert him/her at one stage, an uninterrupted least self oriented dream gets every support around and would become a certain success in time!

So it's sure never too late to start my attempt in this line and my life is 100% worth of doing that!

SURE A COMFORTING THING/THOUGHT DOES THAT JOB TEMPORARILY, BUT WHY NOT LOOK FOR A BETTER SOLUTION?

### The people of a small town were constantly afraid of robbers. They appointed a night watchman for their safety in the night. Daily, the night watchman on vigil at midnight used to repeat the words,

  • 'Hoshiyaar.. Jagte Raho (Be alert and be awake)!'
All at the back of their fears used to get up from their sleep, check the doors for security and go back to sleep.

A young man thought one night,

  • 'Am I coolly sleeping off in my life with this monster fear of losing/failing never leaving me? Why not drive it out once for all and be at peace instead of living with many alternate things/thoughts?'
He thus got an Instant Awakening, opened the doors at that midnight itself and walked off into jungles for Meditation and Penance for ultimate Peace!

Thus, any failure or unbalance in my emotions produces unknown fear in me and to fight it out, I get into a belief by substituting the most comforting thought in mine at that point of time and start doing related actions instead of directly looking at that fear as much possible.

No doubt, any type of belief is just a matter of time and I am sure exposed to the danger of totally feeling helpless again when that my belief is questioned at the root making me again embrace another belief.

My life thus goes with a series of beliefs, there is no end here as well as there is no go too for me as I am an ordinary man of no great Insight unless I firm up to do my bit in this context which no doubt, is well possible for a personality of my level.

### A crow got a piece of meat but in no time, a dozen crows attacked it together. The crow flew branch to branch to escape from the attack but the dozen crows equally followed.

It was restless for a while and finally in a total helpless state dropped the piece of meat to ground. The chasing crows instantly left the original crow and went after the piece of meat fighting within themselves. The original crow rested peacefully on the branch of the tree. A Sage passing by saw that and thought,

  • 'The only way to be at Peace in this world is to drop off the possessions / attachments with me!'
Seen thus, no single thought of self protection will do good ultimately unless I get into a mode of
  • Certain concrete actions of self sacrifice whatever
and
  • Start serving the humanity at large to the extent possible
Which actions alone stabilize me in my life and make me stronger day by day to face such failures if any in future..

Of course, the end of this is never known and equally that is not my aim too here this moment except living a life of fullness all along doing what is

'Right!'

to the max extent possible!

The Post is written in line with the IndiSpire Prompt When you are down with emotions and failures... what would be the one thing or thought which would lift you up.. push your failures behind and bring you back on track #onething

MY TAKE ON FRIENDSHIP!

From the ancient times to the modern digital age, forever the reference to the true friendship in life at the highest level goes to the story of Damon and Pythias.

When Phythias was awarded the death sentence by the dictator King for plotting against him, he requested the King to permit him to visit his home town before taking up the death penalty. The King said that he could never believe that he would come back but Damon came forward and requested the King to permit his friend go home and in case he could not return, himself would take up the death sentence on him.

The King left Phythias and it so happened that he could never come back in the promised time. Damon readied himself for taking up the death sentence and was about to be hanged when Phythias came back and asked the King to hang him.

Damon objected to that saying that as his friend's appointed time had crossed, as per agreement he alone had to be hanged and requested the King to do so. Equally Phythias did not agree for that as he was the original man to be hanged.

Seeing their true friendship, the King got pleased beyond and left both free.
  • This story of our olden times upholds a certain sacrifice required in keeping up good friendship else there is no meaning to that as in good times all will appear very much of helping type!
As we scale down measuring the friendship from the highest mentioned above, the next level is defined thru' the well known proverb
  • 'A friend in need is a friend indeed!'
Very much confirming to the fact that unless one rises to this requirement it can't be called the true friendship.

If further scaled down, it settles at an average give and take policy and such relations are often better defined as

  • 'Acquaintances rather than the friends!'
Further down the ladder if the friend starts becoming more average, it's better remember the precept in all such dealings that
  • 'The gap between average friends and enemies is too less!'
As that friend can turn out to be a threat too in no time with the additional strength of knowing the certain secrets of his once upon a time friend.

Steep down this relation is the stage when the only reason of appearing as friend seems to be thru' the oft remembered/mentioned precept

  • 'If additional money is sensed, new friendships surface in no time!'
Finally, to the bottom most of this relation such interactions stoop down to the last level of dangerous friendship which forever asserts the statement
  • 'If dishonest levels match, new friendships appear in no time!'

TRULY THE BOSOM FRIEND OF MY LIFE WHO NEVER LEFT ME TILL DATE!
  • No doubt, he was the best friend of my life, many times he came into my life and never he left me a day alone..
  • Whenever he was with me, forever he was in great need but never left his smile a single time as he interacted with me..
  • He never became impatient just because I was in a hurry and couldn't pay the required attention towards him even though I might have felt irksome to see him daily and a few times might have cursed myself as my patience ran out..
  • Wherever I used to go, he invariably happened to follow me forever giving certain specific works to me never keeping me idle..
  • He never expected me to treat him in a particular specified/royal way and whatever I could deliver in his case, he used to take it wholeheartedly..
  • I might have not noticed his presence often but ever he was by my side appearing in various styles..
  • He never robbed me, I never became poor in my life just because I constantly helped him and in fact, I was rich the other way..
  • His patience, politeness, obedience and a certain discipline were forever commendable..
  • This life is nothing but a golden chance given to me by the Almighty to serve such a friend and to see myself truly rise in my life and I don't know, how much I really did my portion of duty in this context..
  • Whatever I might have done till date to this my best friend of life is forever less only as God expected me to act sure at my level which is truly given to me to discharge this sacred duty keeping aside all those usual murmurs and protests for a while for not getting something in my life and help this very unforgettable friend of mine..
