WRITING AND READING.. WHAT ARE THEY LIKE ORIGINALLY?

The Great Philosopher wished to tell about His Perceptions of Life to few people around 'As Is'..

He approached the knowledgeable, the ruler, the man in business and the workman in that context..

The knowledgeable said,
  • "I'm the storehouse of knowledge. Why not you listen to what I say?"
The ruler said,
  • "I hold power in all matters. Why not you praise me as great?"
The man in business said,
  • "I do the best business in my field. Why not you tell me something that makes my business better?"
The workman said,
  • "I'm tired beyond with my work and there's no energy to listen to anything. Why not you leave me for a while?"
The Great Philosopher said to Himself,

"None wants this knowledge. Let my Perceptions be digested within me alone!"

Here, what the Great Philosopher had with Him was the Ultimate Knowledge and He sure was the True Writer of that but unfortunately could find no Reader for that..

In a similar way, as one comes down in that Knowledge Level thru' infinite steps, various limited earthly knowledges surface and each individual around us is sure a owner of one or the other knowledge and corresponding Readers too would be found for him/her seeking those limited knowledges spread around..

Thus seen all human beings are Writers of one field or the other but to be a Reader or not is purely the choice of that individual..

The Writer is a better Writer if he/she goes beyond reading all Writings and straight start Reading life itself..

Means.. Straight experiences life aspects direct as much as possible..

In Philosophical terms, the Experiencer of True Knowledge is the One who sees as well as hears the Truth in Universe and that Personality alone retains the highest Serenity and Peace..

One who sees the Truth 'As Is' (Experiences directly) may remain the True Authority of that but that will be complete only if He/She hears of that too. If not, still the Personality may be an Elevated Soul but taints of violence do exist in that Understanding..

That Soul may have many followers as the first hand Experience of Truth is existing there but the followers of that understanding are never free from violence as part of that Revelation as hearing the same is basically missing with the Elevated Soul..

As such, a true writer of any knowledge of the world which is ever part of the Original Truth, one should necessarily read about it (hear about it from others) to make it complete apart from the own perception of that knowledge by him/her..

Seen thus, every human being is specialist of certain knowledge in the world and in that line he/she ever remains a Writer but may not be a Reader therein as to be Reader or not totally left to the individual as per his/her wish and there

His/her Writings remain incomplete however deep the original perception of that knowledge be unless he/she necessarily reads in that line!

The Post is written in line with this week's IndiSpire Prompt what do you think about this statement - India could soon have more writers than readers: Ruskin Bond#MoreWritesThanReaders

Keywords: WRITING, READING

    1. Thanks Madam for the query.. May be, I need to explain a little more here..

In the world, every one is an expert in his/her own field. If he/she has the skill of writing or speaking that would impress others, he/she would be in limelight as a good writer/speaker. Seen thus, we can straight away say that every one is writer/speaker of his/her field, the only thing is he/she has no specific skill of expressing the capability out.. Thus, all are indirect writers/speakers alone on their subject..

As for as becoming Reader means one should be able to get the perception of the Whole in the Universe as his/her knowledge is ever limited and that indirect reading expands his/her horizons and thus the individual would be experiencing glimpses of Truth..

So unless one becomes a good reader, one cannot become a good writer indirectly and for that accepting other's knowledge as is and feeling it as part of one's own knowledge sure helps and seen indirectly the only way to grow in one's field.

Thanks for the good comment on the Post and hope I could give the necessary clarification!

  3. One has to read a lot with interest keeping the doors of the mind open before turning into a writer.

  5. Very true. However, as a postulate this assumes that the writing and publishing has been done in full honesty and sincerity, and that the writers indeed believe in what they write.

    1. You are right in saying that Amit.. As a corollary, it can always be presumed that the field in which I am the expert, I always bring out the best neither more nor less as that is what my life indirectly is.. So honesty sure remains part of those writings/sayings.. Thanks for the good critical comment on the Post!

  6. Its a great post Sreedhar ji. Your statement is 100 percent true - " becomes a good reader". I also appreciate this sentence -
The Writer is a better Writer if he/she goes beyond reading all Writings and straight start Reading life itself..
Thank you for writing on this topic.

  7. You have brought out an interesting aspect of the topic. Everyone has a story to tell. Everyone should try to transmit his wisdom to others. In olden days knowledge passed in oral tradition. Transmitting knowledge orally is easier than doing it in writing. When you speak, certain infections of grammar etc. are ignored. Also while speaking you use gestures to make up for lack of words and sometimes to emphasise your points.
But while writing, one has to be exact and write in such a manner that the readers get your meaning as nearly as possible to your intended thought. Many people have great ideas and thoughts but they may find it difficult to express in writing.

Like movies, writing is a medium of transmission of thought, information and feelings. It is as much an art as it is science. Every writer should not only respect the basic rules of writing like grammar, sentence structure etc., but also write in such a manner that the reader finds it interesting and not much difficult to understand. While real knowledge comes from real life, the art of writing comes from reading and practice in writing.

    1. Thanks Durga Prasad for the compliment and an explanatory comment on the Post.. You rightly said.. Writing too is an art and better writing comes up thru' better reading.. A person who does not have this art is still an indirect writer.. The only thing is.. Some one with such a skill should be ready to help him/her and there his/her original knowledge sure pours out as his/her own.. Love the comment and wishes!
