TSUNDOKU - WHY THAT SURFACES IN OUR LIVES A FEW TIMES?

The young man of mid 20s was suddenly inspired in acquiring more and more knowledge.. He thought,

"It is said,

'Knowledge is Power!'

Let me buy the best books in this context and of my hobby interest and read them thoroughly in my free time!"

Sure, those books would have boosted his knowledge beyond

With his monies permitting buying them but unfortunately, his time permitted only to glance, read here and there and keep back them in the rack as active work ate away all that so called free time..

Soon he was a family man of early 30s with child care..

"Books on child care and child health would help me a lot, sure presently!"

He thought and soon few books on that topic occupied the shelf with old books shifted to a side..

Yes..

Sure those valuable books would have guided him a lot in that job

But the real child care in front never allowed him to read those books in full except glance and ref at times..

Further to that, he was a man of early 40s..

Books on Management and Investment Strategies attracted him a lot in that period and they were bought and positioned in the same rack replacing a few old hobby and knowledge books as by that time the hobby expression and knowledge quest had lessened in him..

Again, those books would have given him in and out of managing day to day affairs and growing his finances in the right direction

But there was no time to breath with him at work as well as in handling family responsibilities and reading those books remained low with those hectic activities at the back..

In time, he was a man of early 50s..

Books on Leadership and Motivational Skills were the need of the hr by then and invariably the same few gifted and few bought by himself were into the rack with some more knowledge books and all child care books taken out..

Those Best books would have done wonders in his development had he spent good time in reading and absorbing the contents deep

But the story repeated with no time to read those books as forced leadership qualities in him guided him max with those valuable books remaining as reference all along

Next he was a man of late 50s..

Yes.. Active work life soon would be coming to an end and as such a sort of Philosophy of Life started speaking in him everywhere with few books on Philosophy bought and kept on his working desk at home leaving the fully filled books of shelf as is..

Those Philosophical books which speak Realities of life and sure make one rise in life..

Too had no time to be graced thru' for long time except one or two a few times as the lesser work thought to be so at that time in employment and at home was never less till the day of retirement and few years beyond..

Soon he was a retired man of early 60s happy with his own small world.. At that point of time, only one book..

SRIMAD BHAGAVAD GITA

Was all the time next to him he, reading the Book daily mornings and evenings with devotion as the Slokas of the Sacred Book remained

ON HIS LIPS ON AND OFF ALL THE DAY!

The Post is written for this week's IndiSpire Prompt

TSUNDOKU - (n.) the act of leaving a book unread after buying it, typically piling it up together with other such unread books. What's your take on this? Have you ever done so? #Buyingbooks

Keywords: BOOK, READING

  1. Buying books and not reading them faithfully is an injustice to them and the work of the creator. It may happen that after reading a part of it, the book turns out to be boring or not as useful as expected, then quite naturally, the feeling to read its remaining part cannot exist in the reader. Then it can be dropped to the shelf (or the better option is to gift to someone who may be interested in that or may be benefitted by reading it). But, coming back to the original point, buying and not reading is undesirable. If one does not have time to read a book (or listen to a music record or play with a sports equipment), then he/she should not buy it in the first place and allow it to be bought by someone else.

    1. Rightly said, Jitendra Mathur.. I very much agree to the point said.. If one can't read a book bought with so much interest, that should be gifted to some one who has keen interest to read after seeing that well with that person else that person too may take it and keep it away.. This often, happens in our lives because an individual sees a thrust within to read a book and so buys it but the activities that come in life with so much force from within never allow the person to do so.. A sad part of our life but never away from us as a fact.. Thanks for leaving a valuable comment on the Post.. Love it and wishes!
