A 'Deviation' here is a 'Permanent Pain!'

A man all of a sudden got into a problem, not a lesser problem…. And the solution seemed to be complex and not straight forward at all.... He was confused on the immediate course of action with every one around remaining silent for a while…. Suddenly, he firmed up…. “I have one life with me and I am important here…. I do not want to sacrifice my enjoyment whatever may be the problem in front; that's all!”  To his surprise, a few around him too asserted the same saying, “Go ahead with your Plan.... How can you simply 'lose' in your life?  We are with you!”  With such a back up, soon he was into a new life of his own enjoyments….

As the days passed, the man slowly noticed that even though the life he had chosen was great initially, when looked more carefully into distance, it was found to be laced with many unknown issues and complications…. And when he tried to discuss the same with the few who initially okayed his living, they brushed off that in no time saying, “Don’t worry…. We too have done such things earlier…. It is nothing here…. Continue with full vigor and we will be always at your back!”  He instantly felt better and thus continued further....

But soon, the man clearly understood that the very same people who asserted his doings all the while, were shaky by themselves and out of their own instability they were proposing a similar life for him…. And by that time, he could no more go back on his earlier actions and was forced to continue further….

As time passed on, there were more and more tensions in him with more intricacies, problems and other issues surfacing and multiplying too fast…. Soon, even a small change from that 'self chosen life' seemed difficult, looking back was not all allowed and the future appeared totally bleak…. Ultimately, he was left high and dry in his life with the mental Peace totally at stake.... Strangely, the so called his Advisors at his back alone held him tight in that path so that he too was with them….

The man wept within himself…."What a great mistake had I done in my life?  Had I stuck to the Right Path when the first problem struck me, the confusion whatever I was foreseeing would have soon ended with more and more light being thrown in the right direction and more and more strength coming up in me out of fearlessness…. By choosing the wrong path, ultimately I lost a good life full of Happiness, Contentment and the Right Expression!"

A 'Soothing' Customer Care?

A funny part of an Office Life....

In the Boss’ Chambers….

“Yes! My Dear, Manager! You know.... It seems, your that boy Sampath had called our Chief Customer Mr Swaroop on phone last evening.... He should have walked down to his Office to clarify his doubt…. And you should have instructed your man not to do that…. In this Company, our GM and MD alone can call him on phone…. Right now, go the Customer’s Office along with your Supervisor and convey our apologies to the Chief for the same…. Else, our business will sure face many hurdles in the coming days….”

“OK! Sir! Right now, I’ll do that!”

At the Customer’s Office….

“Sir! we apologize on behalf of one of my Assistants for directly talking to you on Phone…. We are sorry about that!”

“Look! My dear! Your man does this and you say sorry even he being not in my presence….I won’t accept…. Do one thing…. This moment call your that Sampath and warn him not to repeat the mistake…. Please do that first!”

“Ok! Sir! we’ll do that….” saying thus, the Manager turned to his Supervisor and said, "Ring up to your boy now and tell him..........."

In the next few minutes, the Supervisor heard talking to his Assistant in a low tone from a corner of the room, “Hi! Swaroop…. What are you thinking about yourself I say?  Why did you call our Customer Chief on his phone? Mr Swaroop! Be careful and listen to me…...... And promise me that you don’t repeat this any more…. You are a small man in our Department to talk to a big man like that on phone….........”

As the advising thus continued, the Manager sheepishly was briefing the Chief in a softer tone.... "Sir! My Supervisor had told his boy what all required.... That boy will never repeat this mistake anymore.... His full name is Sampath Swaroop…. They all call him by his second name many times.... OK! Sir! I take leave now.... Once again sorry for all the trouble we gave to you.... Bye! Sir!"

A Service to Humanity....

A young man was very ambitious and was highly principled.... In fact, he was the follower of a Religious Institution and an ordained lover of the Speeches of the Head of the Institution....

Once he happened to attend a Speech made by the Head of the Institution.... He heard the Master say, “A sincere Service done to humanity becomes one of the greatest Assets of our lives!” and was instantly inspired by that.... There, he believed his Master to the core....

He came home and thought thus…."It is always the life of my family and my problems with me and here, I am not really doing something worth what our Great Men all the time advised us to do.... Let me here do something really worth too simultaneously and it is very much possible if we firm up.... I decided, I will devote a minimum of at least an hour daily towards certain Social Service Activities and in that way I will not be equally stopping any other works of mine too….”

Thus he thought, soon located a famous Organization involved in such Social Service Activities and straight away got into that…. After his day's work, he used to go there regularly, give his Services for an hour and return home…. No problem…. "A worthy Service and Gods are truly pleased here!" thus he thought....

Over a period of time, his home jobs which needed attention piled up and the young man thought he could resolve them slowly and sometimes he found that they got resolved by themselves….Best of two was thus possible.... He was very happy....

Life went on thus for sometime but slowly the young man noticed that of late, his spouse was not keeping her health .... He tried to help her out the best but still the problem persisted.... He was thus unhappy.... God was not kind to him....

At length, he took an interview with the Master, explained Him what all had happened and sought His sincere advice.... The Master patiently listened to him, at the end smiled and said, “My dear, I said about the Service to Humanity; no doubt.... But I ask you here.... Have you served the members of your family in the right way first who really needed the best from you? They are the first line Humanity with you all the time.... Instead, you stopped the works which you were supposed to do towards them with your own energies and dedication and involved in a different Social Service....  Thus, your own works got piled up at home and your spouse alone had to do all that.... With her child care, she was forced to work additional, soon got exhausted and thus became sick.... Here, have you really served the Humanity in your great attempt?”

The young man at once understood that one should first serve one's family members in the best way required for their growth and welfare; beyond that alone some of his / her energies whatever available should go to the people around but never the other way!

The never fading 'Frame of Reference'....

A business man’s son finished his Management Degree after graduation and was all set to venture into business field....  As a young Entrepreneur with no strings attached for investment, he opened his own Company to produce a particular Product, appointed a few working staff and simultaneously established a good Marketing Network to sell the Product....

He further thought thus….

“I am going to produce this Product which is in line with my basic skills and which has a good demand in the market and I have to sell this Product.... Here there are people down the line who give out their skills and bring out the Product and another group of people who pay at various levels for the Product to move to the Final User....

It is very important that the chain of people on one side are well motivated and the chain of people the other side are truly benefited....

I decided to adapt a Code of Conduct here....

I would allot 25% of my profit earned for the betterment of all the people involved in the chain on both sides as well as for outsiders as follows:

5% on people, who would be involved in value addition to the Product,
5% on people, who would be beneficiaries of the Product and

10% on Charity purely to the Outsiders....

The remaining 5%, I keep aside to cover the cost of all the returns in respect of use and damage by the Customer....

Further, I will work more than anyone in my Company and allocate 25% of this time exclusively to resolve problems of the individuals working with me....

And finally, I will advertise the Product for the information purpose alone and will never influence the Customer beyond that....

This way done my profits may not be high, and sometimes may be minimum but the Customer Chain thus created never gets off from me and the Business exists for a longer time....

If still fate does not favor running of my Venture successfully, it would be taken without a single murmur from my side simultaneously ensuring that it was never out of laziness, corruption and despondency of any individual in the System!”

The 'Ideal Discipline', the young man thought of.... May not be practicable so easily.... But read between the lines, the Truth forever is seen existing here alone.... I, as a Business Personality better keep these 'Golden Points' in mind while doing my activities and forever be making attempt on how close I can discipline myself to these 'Points'....

Worth 'Framing' the same in my mind as 'True Reference' to my Activities....

Self Help....

Self help is the Golden Path one has to embrace in life….

Whatever is said or done, one should help himself / herself physically all the time in his / her life according to his / her capacity!

A great Saint was offered many times help by the disciples when He was old and was afflicted with an incurable disease.... He politely used to refuse the offer saying, “As long as my hand can move, let it only help me.... You can help me when this hand can no more do the job!”
....Meaning almost never many times!

The Message here invariably is an invaluable one for me….

By bargain, we can always buy the 'Physical Help' in the world.... And the payments involved are forever controlled by the Economics and the Prevailing Rules and Regulations.... In such a scenario, it is better the following issues are thoroughly checked before buying such 'Help'….

  1. Am I asking help where if my body can exert reasonably, the work can be completed?
  2. In my process of buying the physical help, is there human exploitation involved?
  3. If the individual who helps me grows in his/her profession to my level or above, is it a happy situation for me?
  4. Am I doing my core business during these times when I buy the physical help?
  5. Am I truly engaged simultaneously in discharging my bounden duties during the period the help is sought?
If I only can get reasonable negative answers for the first two questions and positive answers for the last three, the 'Physical Help' can be taken.... Else many times, it is a 'Noble Gesture' on my behalf if I can stop here and look at myself as the true 'Tool of that Help!'

A few Funny Incidents....

###  The Transportation Agency said, “We positively deliver your items…. If not we return the money worth of the items shipped!” followed by certain exceptions such as…..
  • Earthquakes, Storms, Whirl winds and all such Natural Disasters…..,
  • Riots, Strikes, Protests and all such man made disturbances….,
  • Accidents, Breakdowns, Transport hold ups and all such routine issues….,
  • Leaving the above, all other damages beyond human control….,
  • Political interferences, Geographical problems and the economic turmoils….,
  • All unlawful involvements and disturbances…. and
  • All such instances when the items become untraceable….
The Customer smiled and remarked, “If none of these happen, why at all a guarantee is required in the delivery of the items?”

###  In a far off distant land, a Prominent Food Store along with normal food items used to sell certain Natural Remedies too for the usual day to day ailments.... A particular Sales Boy at the Counter used to entertain the Customers to the Store through high polite behavior by repeatedly using the words while billing…. Hi!  How are you today?  Did you find everything?………. Here you go…. Enjoy!”

Unfortunately by force of habit he repeated the same words, when a Remedial Item was purchased by a Customer suffering from an ailment with him!

###  At the ‘XXXX’ Coffee Shop, I was served the very best Coffee with a Super Cup!”

“Oh! So Great! Why was the Big man with you at the ‘XXXX’ Coffee Shop?”

###  The Classic Joke from our Grandma’s Tales….

In the very olden days, a few old ladies used to run the ‘Wayside Inns’ for en-route Travelers to dine and rest for a night in the middle of their journey….

In one such Inn, once a Traveller was served good food and after the food the traditional betel nut Pawn was offered to him…. When he had bitten the betel nut, the old lady exclaimed, “Oh! My God! At last you did it!”

To a question from the Traveller she said with a beaming face, “Yes! This particular nut could not be cracked by many Travelers who visited my Inn till date and tried it…. I safely preserved it all these days, was waiting to see who can really crack it and today, I can’t believe it…. You have done it at last!”

Pitfalls of 'Extra Pleasing'....

One of our old Sayings retold with extra explanations....

A man working for a Master used to get up in the early morning, prepare himself fully to report for duty along with a beautiful Rose specially picked up for the Master, present him the same and start his Work.... And that he made his daily routine in the mornings ....

Slowly over a period of time, he found that his Master was not that much happy with the flower as he used to be in the beginning.... Even though the man started selecting the best flower to give him, the Master stopped paying attention to all that and started pointing out some of his earlier day mistakes at Work....

Soon, the man started spending more attention in selecting the flower, wrap it nicely and give to the Master.... And he used to do all his work too with utmost attention.... For a few days the Master was OK but soon again he started pointing out and scolding him often for certain fictitious lapses....

The man thus was sad....

On one of those days, he happened to meet a friend of him after the Work.... The friend had seen his sad face and enquired him about that.... The man kept quiet for a while but beyond that could not control his feelings.... He thus told him the whole happenings at his Work daily....

The friend heard everything patiently.... He looked at him for some time, smiled and asked him, “What basic tasks are you supposed to do daily at your Master's Premises?” The man explained in brief all the tasks that he had to do daily....

The friend asked, “Is your Master’s day really smooth with the completion of all these tasks?”

“Yes.... To my knowledge, he has no problem” the man replied....

The friend asserted, “I feel you are doing your job well.... Tell me one thing.... Is it one of your duties to give a flower too to your Master daily when you report for Work?”

The man looked bewildered with the question....

“Yes! My dear! Here, you started doing something extra beyond your duty thinking that you can please your Master more in that way.... Seeing this quite for some time, he had taken you for granted and started showing his anger easily on you.... He assumed that you will not give back easily.... Thus you wanted to please him extra and that worked initially but is not working anymore and in fact is working against you now....  Of course, there is no point in giving back to the Master as you yourself wanted the job and that way you should be careful here not to hurt him.... Had you understood the correct 'Master Servant Relation' in the beginning itself and acted accordingly, this problem would not have come up to you at all in your life!”
