HUMILITY.. WHAT IT'S NOT!

It was dot 9 AM and the Boss was in his seat. The Assistants wished him and were ready with their briefings. The Boss was in a bit rage..
  • “You should have briefed me all this yesterday evening itself!"
“Sir! The work consumed it's time and by the time we finished it, it was late evening!”
  • “Mr Lokesh! The work took more time because your estimates were not precise. Are you people conversant with calculations?”
“Sir! we took care everywhere. Not one person, 3 of us thoroughly checked for any omissions. But in the last minute, a few unforeseen issues cropped in and....”
  • "Sorry! I can only say that there was no planning here. If you plan well and take proper care, why at all these factors surface?”
“Sir, we tried our best....”
  • “No arguments please. They say pride goes before fall. I'd like to replace that pride with carelessness and over confidence!”
Just then the Driver entered the room and said,

"Morning, Sir! I was late by 5 minutes and I was told that you already left home!"
  • "You got to be 5 minutes early Ramu! I can't wait a minute beyond my scheduled time. One minute lapse, creates a chain of hold-ups everywhere. Ok.. I'll call you later!"
Saying thus he turned to the Assistants and said,
  • "Because, I cared for that one minute there, the issues are under my control!"
Mean while, the Office Boy brought coffee..
  • “Always my coffee and glass of water on the side desk please!"
He said to the Office Boy, turned to the Assistants and continued..
  • "You know.. That basic planning in arrangement solves many problems as they never come in my way of active working but readily available at any point of time next to me..
  • See.. All these urgencies are purely because of our carelessness and laziness. That's why we have only problems everywhere and no solutions. I say,
Plan well,
Work smart,
Take care at every point and
Try foreseeing every eventuality

  • Close eyes and do your job, all failures take back seat and you just see order in your life. In fact, what we make alone is our life!”
Saying thus he made a quarter turn in his revolving chair to take his coffee but the overshot hand
  • Hit both the cup and glass kept there with a great force pushing them off to ground with a shattering sound
  • Breaking them into one hundred pieces thrown in all directions
  • The hot coffee and water splashing on to the files neatly kept by the side
  • Making their journey down dripping on to floor creeping below the table and shoes of the highly disciplined Boss further
  • Heading towards the chairs of the meekly sitting Sub-ordinates..
Just at that moment,

Sloka 47, Chapter II of Srimad Bhagavad Gita

Was heard on the loud speakers of the nearby Temple being recited melodiously with the meaning explained in parallel on what Lord Krishna said to Prince Arjuna..

'karmany evadhikaras te
ma phalesu kadacana
ma karma phala hetur bhur
ma te sango stv akarmani'

'You certainly have right for prescribed activities but never at anytime in their results. You should never be motivated by the results of the actions, nor should there be any attachment to doing your prescribed activities!'
